Future plans at
Southwest Steel Casting Company
include additions and modifications to Plant's 1
and 2 and additions to support facilities such
as Stores and Maintenance.
At Plant 1, plans are under development to add
two (2) induction furnaces to it's existing
6,000 lb. arc furnace. The addition of Induction
Melting will benefit SWS and it's customers by:

Exotic Alloy Melting
► Reduced Melt Costs
► Cost Effective Small Production Runs
► Rush Customer Jobs
► Parts Sampling
Additional plans include the installation of a
thermal reclaimer to supplement the existing
12tph attrition (mechanical) system.
Plant 2 is undergoing a redesign of the cleaning
room. This project is being under taken jointly
with Iowa State University and Southwest Steel
Casting Company. Other plans for Plant 2 include
the enlargement of Heat Treating with an
additional furnace and more efficient quench
tank.
Due to increasing demand for large steel
castings, 3,500 to 4,500 lb. range, Southwest
Steel Casting Company is installing additional
large molding capacity with will include a 1,000
lb./min. extended reach continuous mixer.
Other projects at Southwest Steel include an
8,200 sq. ft. building addition which will house
Southwest Steel's new shipping facilities and
the addition of a 7,000 sq. ft. warehouse for
consumables and maintenance parts. |
