As part of Southwest Steel's commitment to the local community, it has become an active member in such organizations as the Longview Partnership Program. The Longview Partnership Program includes the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Development, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

With the additions of both Attrition and Thermal sand reclamation systems, Southwest Steel Casting Company is reducing the waste leaving the facility helping to safeguard the environment of the local community.

Additionally, Southwest Steel recycles large quantities of scrap steel in the manufacture of steel castings, that would otherwise be sent to landfills.
